The Europas, the European Startup Awards 2010 for tech companies, will be held on November 19 in London (tickets available here). Entrants have been informed by Crunchbase, our database of startups, and will be voted on by the industry. These results will influence a subsequent voting round from The Europas Advisory Board of experts, chaired by TechCrunch Europe.

If you want to suggest a company that you think should be voted on by the industry, then please suggest it in the comments – but it does not guarantee entry, and any suggested company must either be in CrunchBase already or be submitted to CrunchBase. The judges’ decision is final. If you want more information on any of these entries… look on CrunchBase.

      Guys,

      ever wondered about “Green Supercomputing”,

Quite a bit of a late entry, but I believe that you should also consider this one:
      http://www.crunchbase.com/company/sciengines

At least 10x faster and 100x less energy consumption (thus cooler) than supercomputers of the same price.

According to various sources (IDC, Greenpeace, etc) 1-2% of the world’s energy consumption is caused by IT and half of that is only the cooling of the hardware. For the mid and high-end server market, which SciEngines targets, this comes up to roughly 35 billion kWh per year. Reducing this by 34.65 bn, is quite a clean solution…”

Thanks for giving a thought to Green Spercomputing

      Thanks for the add!

      Vote Carboncalculated.com ;-)

    • http://www.verteego.com Rupert

Verteego (http://www.crunchbase.com/company/verteego) was launched in 2008 and is the European leader of carbon management SaaS applications.
Beside Verteego.com, that counts hundreds of customers worldwide, we recently launched Carbonpark.com, an API service allowing any developer to build apps based on the Verteego engine.
How may we appear on the list?
      Thanks in advance!

Alertme and Routrank have been around from 2006, is this not longer than 3.5 years ago?

Well Its not time yet to vote as I have just start to use this site and I haven’t see much of it. Sorry later I could vote but not yet ok. As I have bugs all over my computer when I connect with this site since then my computer is working in a bad conditions.

    • http://www.sciengines.com Tim

Thanks for the nomination Claas. We’ll see if SciEngines gets listed and still has a chance of making up for our late entry.
I believe that your energy-saving statstic might be quite helpful for that ;-)

If we achieve only 10% of those figures, that would still be 3bn kWh savings = 3000 1MW wind power plants & LOTS of computing power.

    • http://www.verteego.com Rupert

Is there any chance to get on the list ?

    • http://www.cleanthinking.de Cleantech Martin

I have been missing some German Startups on the list like JouleX, GreenPocket and others — but my favourites from the list is Alertme I think. Just promising technology :-)
