I’m still completely convinced that the HTC Sense for Windows Phone 7 footage we saw last week was completely legit, and it sure looked pretty solid to me — but by what HTC CEO Peter Chou is saying, we might not be seeing any of that on HTC’s WP7 handsets right off the bat at launch.

Here’s the key quote from an interview with FierceWireless:

“Initially, we don’t have time to bring things on top of that,” he said. “But over time we will innovate on top of that to provide some HTC experience.”

Going further, Chou reaffirms what we already knew: HTC won’t be building a “full” Sense UI, like those found on Windows Mobile 6.5 or Android. Don’t get too mad at’em; though Chou doesn’t name any names, HTC actually isn’t allowed to make changes like that to Windows Phone 7 — it’s part of their partner agreement.
