After teasing it in May, Japan’s No. 3 mobile carrier SoftBank Mobile (25 million subscribers) now added a Gundam-themed cell phone to its line-up. Gundam is one of the most famous anime series out there, and the new handset is geared towards fans of that series (and cell phone otaku in general).

Technically, the Gundam handset is based on the Sharp 945SH (3.2-inch full wide VGA display, 12.1MP CCD camera, video recording in 720p, digital TV tuner, Wi-Fi, waterproof, Bluetooth, HDMI interface, GSM, two-way stereo microphone).

This special Gundam version obviously looks totally different and offers sound effects from the anime, next to Gundam-themed menus. Buyers also get a special dock that doubles as a stand for the cool Gundam figure that’s also included in the package.
