Acer Will Run Android For Its Tablets

As we mentioned earlier in the summer Acer plans to release an Android-based tablet. Now Acer’s Taiwan president, Scott Lin, has just said that Acer is excited to be making their tablet PCs Android-based – something to compete with the iPad.

Acer will be releasing a tablet PC, based on the Wintel platform, later this year. If the market responds positively, they will release the Android version early in 2011. Acer is still focusing on it’s smartphone segment, and will ship two million in 2010 and expects 5-6 million in 2011, with the majority running Android.
