CAV Japan today announced [JP] iPod speakers designed like Hello Kitty, the dream cartoon cat of millions of teenage girls. The maker says the speaker dock comes with “Surface Mounting Technology” and “Lossless Energy Amplification Technology” for 360° sound, but the design is the main selling point in this case.

The 2.5W×2ch+6W speaker features 60Hz ~ 20kHz frequency response and comes with a remote control (but users can also touch Kitty’s ears to adjust the volume).

CAV plans to start selling the speaker (in white or pink) in Japan on September 24 for $150. While that model only supports the iPod, another version supporting both the iPod and the iPhone will follow in October (for $175).

If you’re interested but live outside Japan, ask specialized online stores like The Japan Trend Shop, Geek Stuff 4 U or Rinkya.
