Very nice article Steve. I work with small business owners teaching them how to leverage the Internet and increase their sales with social media list building. I am always searching for more great information on social media list building because their is always another new angle that is just around the corner and you don’t want to miss it. Again thanks for the great content.

I’ve been using a site called FrankRank.com that has been doing crowd-sourced and socialized lists for over a year now. You can track your rankings vs anyone else vs a popular vote. It’s all hooked into FB so signing up and sharing is pretty easy. Items within lists are reusable and lists can be reordered via drag-n-drop.

I’m sure it does. You and I are looking at different lists, possibly in different browsers and operating systems. Maybe I’m using different features than you are. There are a lot of variables, and one or more of them is causing it to break in several different ways on my system and give me a bad experience. And if I’m having a bad experience, I don’t want to subject my friends to the same experience.

Listiki is about allowing users to create and reorder any sort of list collaboratively. The site you mention appears to be editorial-oriented right?

Lists of 10-best-insert-sth are just one of the things you can do.

For example we use it for meeting agenda items with a password protected list. Other could dump favorite books, music etc.

There is always going to be somebody out there that has the same idea/concept regardless of when they push it forward. It’s about doing it and doing it right. Listiki is still in beta with a lot more to come. I’m looking forward to the new features!

Nice idea, still seems very beta. I had trouble adding new items (sometimes the overlay would overflow the screen) and after adding items everything I had removed from my own ranked list would be re-added. I reordered my ranked list a couple times but every time I revisited it the order would be shuffled. I was going to share this with some friends but I don’t think it’s ready yet.

I… I’m just lost for words at why this site doesn’t have a ‘sort by popularity/votes’ option in the directory section. It’s usually the default! Hardly anything seems to have more than 5 or so votes, so my first thought is, oh, I wonder what the most number of votes on a list is…

Too bad, because it’s a fantastic idea, and otherwise really well implemented. Nice design, drag and drop. Drag and drop people!!!

So yeah, add the ‘most votes’ sorting option already!
