This is essentially pyramid selling, where one bidder picks up a bargain at the expense of the numerous other bidders. Its a scheme that preys on the gullible and appeals to our base instincts. It can be harmless if you treat it like a lottery, however people do get hooked, in the erroneous belief that they will pick up a real bargain. The truth is that possibility is quite remote. In the current economic climate we will see more of these sites. Though not illegal, one must question the morality of the people who are just exploiting there fellow human beings. They disgust me.

I have been on madbid for a few weeks now. I won, & i lost. Better get used to it, as we are all bidding against each other on the site. The site is easy to calculate. You bid using credits, or you buy credits to bid, 80 credits will cost £10 or you can buy more if you like. The value of the product or RRP governs the ammount of credits it can cost to bid. IE 4 -5 -or 6 credits per bid. The price during the bidding goes up by 1 pence per bid. So you now know that a product that is running at £10 pounds has actualy had 1000 bids thrown at it, times that by the amount of credits that it costs to bid, then you can see how much the product has realy made for the company, but if you can work the site there are good bargains on there, & at a fraction of the high street price,s. Thats a pretty cool move for all concerned here. The site makes money, & if your a clever bidder you will save money.

I saw this one case where this customer slammed a penny auction because they thought they were being scammed so we investigated it a little just to see. We found that the penny auction in question has been operating for over a year now and could only find one complaint against them and I bet you can guess who complained. We read some emails from both parties involved and a major portion of the conversation was left out of the complaint where they were bashing them. You can get more information here - Penny Auctions

That was a good info. There have been a lot of investments in penny auctions. Now, with the ending of this decade, penny auctions are just over shadowing the auction market. There is tremendous increase in penny auction sites. :-p

MadBid is a good site, I joined after I first saw this article and I won a few bits and they all got delivered fine but to be honest Ive not used it for a few weeks because it is bloody hard to win. Good idea though but just not for me

ive never bid on madbid as i bet hundreds of others have and i would not be in with a chance! i found another UK one- biddi my friend won a speaker system from there.

They are fun sites but I guess you can get carried away.
