Mobile Technology Company Movitas Raises $3M, Goes After The Travel Industry

Mobile communication, marketing and commerce platform vendor Movitas has raised $3 million in a new round of financing from a group of private investors, the company announced earlier this morning, self-reportedly thanks to its success with hotels, holiday resorts and the likes.

Movitas says it will use the additional capital to enhance its mobile platform to generate new revenue streams for the travel, tourism and meetings industries.

The new funding round comes a little over six months since Movitas moved to acquire fellow mobile phone marketing company PhindMe / Everywhereigo.

Today, the company’s platform provides hospitality-focused mobile solutions; an integrated suite of publishing, marketing, messaging and advertising applications for delivering new revenue sources. The platform focuses on the revenue opportunities of real-time communication between travel businesses and consumers before, during, and after their stay.

Solutions include content management, messaging, commerce, logistics, workflow, and internet based administrative tools that can integrate into property management (PMS), central reservation (CRS) and point of sale (POS) systems.

Headquartered in suburban Philadelphia, PA, Movitas is led by CEO Keith Forshew, who joined Movitas after serving as COO at StarCite, a group travel lead generation source for the hotel and hospitality industry serving all major global brands and more than 93,000 meeting venues and suppliers.

Movitas was launched and formed by its current Board of Directors that include Terry Williams, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Next Stage Capital; Pat Croce, former President of the Philadelphia 76ers, entrepreneur and author; and Michael McNulty, Co-founder of VerticalNet.
