Their business model provides users with far less value when they are not paying subscribers. However, their payment threshold is significantly lower than LinkedIn, I think the monthly subscription is about €7.50 or something of that order.

What this means is that users get far more for free at LinkedIn than at Xing. I think over time this is going to lead to a situation where users will first maintain two profiles and then they will switch off the Xing subscription.
