Samsung is conducting a lesson in Brand Identity 101. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet is basically a gigantic Galaxy S i9000 in the same way that the iPad is an oversized iPhone. That’s a good thing.

We’re not entirely sure if the Galaxy Tab was supposed to go official yet, seeing as the pic and announcement came from the Samsung South Africa Twitter feed, but here she is. Seven inches of TFT fun.

The only technical specs available right now are the Android install and 7-inch screen size. This might not be just a data-only tablet though. Notice that phone icon in the bottom left? Samsung might have one-up’d Apple in the tablet race, although a Bluetooth headset is likely the only way to make calls on this thing. Calling on it would be like holding up a medium size Moleskin notebook to your head. [Twitter via Samsung Hub]
