Googlle Opens A School In India. Wait. Read That Name Again.
MG Siegler
Jan 2, 2010

Screen shot 2010-01-02 at 4.19.40 PMThe idea of working at Google is a dream job for many engineers all around the world. So where better to go to get ready for this career than the Googlle Institute of Software of Software Studies, right? Hold on a second. Read that name again.

Yes, it appears that some jokers in India are attempting to leverage not only Google’s name, but their logo and even favicon to trick people into thinking they their quite-possibly-bogus online university is related to the real Google somehow. Dubbed the “School For Future Software Engineers,” the Googlle Institute has a website that looks like it could some sort of legitimate online training school — if it weren’t for the sketchy naming, branding, and plethora of dead links.

They apparently offer two certifications: “GCPA – Googlle Certified Professional in Advanced Computing,” which promises to teach you technologies related to “Windows Professional” and “Linux Professional.” The other certification is “GCPE – Googlle Certified Professional in E-Commerce,” which gives you more consumer-oriented skills, such as Photoshop. These courses take two years to complete, but the site notes that they also offer “Modular courses – duration 60 days to 90 days that can enhance your computer skills and offer you “GOOGLLE” certification, no matter what your specific requirement.” Oh goody, a Googlle certification.

The site also features a bunch of pictures of students sitting around outside at a campus, sitting in a classroom, graduating, the works. The only problem? As far as I can tell, there is no actual campus. Actually, almost every link on the site leads to dead end pages that don’t actually exist.

This “Googlle” is apparently a division of C.B.Online Pvt. Ltd., which is some sort of online business “solutions” provider based in India. Googlle’s headquarters is apparently in Orissa, India at the Rajarani Petrol Pump Complex. That sounds a lot like a gas station to me, but who knows. Regardless, I’m sure it’s not as nice as Google’s actual offices in India (they have four main hubs for the bustling and burgeoning tech scene there). Hopefully they have something to say about this site.

I went to the website and at the bottom it says

    Declaration
We are no way related to Google Search Engine, neither we provide any services like Google.
    Google is our god.”

You can’t go to any of their links, its like everything as been shut off

    @ Debajyoti Das Gogola lol !! :)

Googula and Googule are nick names in that part of India. Its likely that this institute has been named after somebody’s name, but incidentally the name got conflicted with “GOOGLE”.

I investigated more about Googlle school. It turns out the website is owned and put up by Google itself to have some fun with TechCrunch. They got you ;)

Google mocked manipulative TechCrunch into a fake news like Facebook did few months back.

MG how did you miss the disclaimer on their homepage?

    “Declaration:

You have also removed the disclaimer from the screen shot of the homepage that you uploaded here.

It is a trademark violation not copyright as some have suggested. Bless their little hearts in copying the colorful logo of a well known brand but not actually claiming an affiliation to Google. Because then the legal pitbulls would have a field day.
By claiming that they are an alleged *learning institute*, it seems like they might go unchallenged.

I wonder how photoshop helps make someone an alleged ecommerce expert but what the hell do I know. I’m not a Googller.

This is hilarious….y do people think using similar sounding names and not the exact words means they are doing a legitimate business. Not just technology but in every nature of business such fake bogus companies are operating.

I think this is something very funny, I don’t think it is possible…and if it is then this is hilarious…Someone is trying to cash the name of Google’s name at the cost of education…

  • http://www.ashsud.com Ash Sud

Google had the same name for one day on 9/27/09 when they changed their homepage logo to Googlle to commemorate their 11 year anniversary. I think these guys got the idea from Google’s one day logo change.

Google has given theses guys a PR2 ranking so they obviously don’t know about them or care.

Yes, when Indians sleep they dream of Nepal being part of Indian Union but when they wake up their dream is shattered. LoL on Indians.

    coming back to post,
when whole world is laughing seeing someone in India ripping off Google, Indians on TC are feeling the Heat.

That also shows the truth that the whole Indian IT industry is somewhat based on rip offs.
