A celebrity Tweet consolidation! Mogul Russell Simmons’ hip-hop media platform Global Grind are acquiring CelebrityTweet, which collects and aggregates Tweets from celebrities on its platform. The terms of the acquisition were not released.
Launched in October 2008, CelebrityTweet capitalizes on the growing number of celebs who take to Twitter to connect with their fan base.
Global Grind will be using CelebrityTweet to build its own platform and data base that lets users access Tweets from their favorite celebs.
Global Grind also hopes to use the platform as a way for celebs to connect and engage with their fans. As more and more celebrities flock to Twitter, platform like CelebrityTweet can be useful to fans to find their Tweets. SoBe Lifewater will als0 sponsor CelebrityTweet.com and its celebrity blogs. Global Grind raised $2.6 million in new funding a few months ago.

What a pay day. I am gonna start up a twitter site featuring well known party poopers (Kayne West for example) and then sell it to TMZ for $5 million.
Of course people could just spend five seconds to research their own fav partypoopers, but then they would be partypooping me out of $5 million – which , lets face it, is a collosal party pooper
You guys are normally on point but you are crazy late on this one, we covered this in October. Russell let the beans spill via Twitter:

I’d imagine this went dirt cheap. Next up on the celebrity tweets acquisition train: http://www.celebwitter.com
I still don’t see the point in using the service. If I can follow celebrities on my own on Twitter, or create lists of celebretards I care about, why would I need to use this service?
how on earth will they make money off this?
