The ‘techcrunch’ code isn’t workin already!

That “first 200 commenter” stuff with other invites was much cooler.

Thanks TC, I’ve been playing around with Put.io and I think I am in love. Binfire looks positively ugly compared to it.

I let it download some open-music from Mininova and I must say it worked quite well. Automatically loaded the tracker information, downloaded the torrent, decompressed the archive, and even seeded while streaming the album for me to listen in the browser. (the artist was Kismet, they are pretty good actually)

I am interested to see how the beta progresses.

Kind of silly that they only issued 200 invites. I guess putio is not ready for prime time. Thank you for listing the competitors. We signed up for accounts on both so we can evaluate them.

Good news is that http://www.binfire.com is still free and you don’t need an invitation to use the service! In addition to multiple files upload and a java applet for drag & drop, the collaboration tools in binfire.com let you have a group folder accessible by multiple users, each having his or her own permission levels. The system allows you to lock a file so other users in your team (group) can not modify a file while you are changing it. All version of a file are accesible at any time.
The multi-media section allows you to play flash videos plus mp3 audios.
Another nice feature is the chat option, which allows you to chat with your online contacts. A group (multi-user) chat is coming soon!

David, our main goal at binfire.com has been functionality up to now. A new Skin is coming soon with much better UI. Although I don’t call binfire’s UI ugly, we know we need to do a better job in making the user interface easier to understand.

Fair enough good sir. As a developer I understand the UI is not the most important aspect of a service, rather the quality of the functionality it brings. I guess “positively ugly” was a little harsh, what I meant was that Put.io has a very clean fresh look while binfire seems a little bit dated.

I look forward to checking out the new skin and I wish you all the best!

I went back this mornin to play around with it and get a better feel for it but now it says to look in my junk folder to confirm…lolol….but sadly I cleared my email out first thing this mornin BEFORE going there so no can do lolol I also see ur lookin for a QA well lol I found 1 bug lolol… anyways support is not available and there is no link to resend confirmation email lol… so if u can help me out here I would b grateful…I will check back over there shortly till I can get a hold of support…

We just released new and improved version IV of binfire.com. Registration is still free and some free features like Free share ( http://www.binfire.com/rel/index.php?page=share_new_layout ) are better than paid services offered by our competition ( like rapidshare, etc) .
Collaboration features are improved too, but for that you need to register (free).
