So this is funny. Yes, Twitter is having downtime issues right now. Yes, again. But that’s nothing new, obviously. What is new is that Twitter being down has also apparently borked the site many people use to check if Twitter is down, downforeveryoneorjustme.
While the site, made by Ryan King, is working for every other site on the web, the image below shows what is returned when you put in twitter.com now. Did I mention King is now a Twitter employee? Beyond meta.
And yes, I tried putting in downforeveryoneorjustme.com into downforeveryoneorjustme — and I somehow ended up inside John Malkovich’s head.
Update: Both are back up now, however the Twitter Lists feature appears to be disabled.

Ah, sweet sweet irony.
The ironing is delicious.
Who ever is down , Techcrunch will always include Twitter in it.
downforeveryoneorjustme was having problem for any site at that time …
But the writer dont think there is another site exist on whose downtime he can write the post
pretty funny but good idea! I think i’ll bookmark the site
looks like the app exceeded the allowed usage on app engine.
Beyond Meta indeed. Funnily enough, i don’t trust downforeveryoneorjustme too much (has not been that accurate). So I thought about checking techcrunch. And I find news about Twitter AND downoreveryone… both being down!
Another good check tool is http://www.alertfox.com/ToolsCheck
It checks even from 3 locations, but has a much more boring design
yeah i like how that one does a graph.. but i also like how simple http://upup.ws is….
thanks, shorter to type.
You can also visit http://downrightnow.com/twitter to report a service disruption and see if others are having issues.
downrightnow also monitors Facebook, Gmail and other popular web services to automatically detect outages.
Your trust issues with downforeveryoneofjustme are not unfounded.
What is wrong with this: http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/amazon.com
(for those of you who can’t spot it Amazon.com is NOT down)
Good catch…:)
downforeveryoneorjustme is on a $5/month web hosting plan, so whats the surprise.
My Lists are gone, and so are those of several other people I know.
Oops, didn’t see the update on Lists up there.
This actually happened to me last night on another site. I think downforeveryoneorjustme was having issues.
Seconding this, I tried to use downforeveryoneorjustme earlier today way before Twitter was having issues, and it still wans’t working.
Entering downforeveryoneorjustme.com into downforeveryoneorjustme results in:
“If you can see this page and still think we’re down, it’s just you.”
Excellent!
Ahh man, my favorite website dfdfsfgdfgdfgd.com also breaks downforeveryoneorjustme. What gives.
Well, the way I see it, if people take the time to write about your site being down… you’re probably doing something right, since there is a major need for the site’s services, but it is definitely a Twitter Fail as usual!
This is the ONLY large site that I know that has problems staying up. You think they’d fix this by now. Another reason why I don’t user their service.
I wish, I would write, like this, all the time. Yes, all the time. It would be great, obviously.
Its various aricles,i like to read its.
@MG Siegler: How do you know that downforeveryoneorjustme.com is really down and it is not just down for you (and the people you asked also to check it)?
as long as http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/yougotrickrolled.com is up, i’m happy.
Maybe Twitter need to host istwitterdownforeveryoneorjustme.com on their own dime. And on a separate network connection of course
It is surprising that a site with so many users, such following and publicity is having constant problem with uptime. That must mean that their IT infrastructure is simply not designed for the traffic they are getting – and about time they address that.
On another note – I am constantly surprised how little Twitter actually developes. They have recently come up with the Lists (which are great) and Retweets (that came way too late), but that’s about it. That you have to visit other sites to manage your followers or to get a good search result is aweful.
Twitter should fix their uptime and start developing more tools inhouse.
the exception on downforeveryoneorjustme.com has nothing to do with twitter being up or down, it is just not working for any site that is actually down, probably due to a database error, e.g. try
http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/nexen2.de
the exception on downforeveryoneorjustme.com has nothing to do with twitter being up or down, it appears on any site that is down, probably due to a database error
http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/192.168.1.1
Never heard of those sites before, interesting…. however, I haven’t seen the fail whale in awhile, cute little bugger; I finally got some work done, so thank you!
SOMEONE ON THE INTERNET IS WRONG!
Its not my site. My site is http://istwitterdown.com/.
tech-crunching? no-doubt!
haha, my cheeks hurt.
Irony is delicious indeed!
Twitter downtime is spreading like a disease.
Good site. Even i’m going to use it.
looks like they went over their free appengine quota. hopefully they’ll actually adjust their appengine billing preferences to prevent this from happening again (assuming they’re okay spending cash on this project).
oh that was hilarious!!!

Remember to back up your tweets! http://tweetbackup.com
Thats why I check here (from 8 locations): http://www.watchmouse.com/checkit.php
The error message screenshot is from downforeveryoneorjustme.com, not Twitter.com
