Google provides peek at Android marketplace, doesn't spill release date

Google trickled out some screenshots from the upcoming refresh to the Android marketplace today. Their primary goal here seems to be to address complaints that the experience is unwieldy to users, while adding subcategories and regional options. This will be version 1.6 of the marketplace, but there’s no word on exactly when it’s going to be released. See the video after the jump.

In addition to the categories, developers will be able to provide more information about their apps. This has been a huge request from developers, who will now be able to include screenshots, icons, and more detailed descriptions. It’s a bit late to the game, but we’re always fans of positive change.
