• Gamers getting older, fatter

    Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

40_year_old_chairWell, bad news for gamers in the Pacific Northwest. Turns out that according to a study by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) the average age and weight of the common gamer is going up. This is not good for obvious reasons, since weight problems also can contribute to other health issues.

The BBC recently reported on a study (conducted in the Seattle-Tacoma region of Washington state) that showed that average age of the most active gamers is now around 35. And while gamers are getting older, they aren’t exercising any more then they used to. This is resulting in a higher BMI then is recommended, which can result in depression, and a poor quality of life. So when you might have a really sweet A/V setup, make sure you buy a chair with some extra padding. Or check into a Wii fit.
