I was just writing up the leak of this sucker when it drops in my lap. The new Canon T1i is the latest in their Rebel series of entry-level DSLRs, and this new version makes me sad I went for the XSi instead of waiting. Blogger’s remorse. At any rate, it looks excellent. So what’s new?
The major changes are these:
The lucky ducks over at Demystifying Digital got to spend an hour with the T1i, and report that everything is as it should be. They’ve even got video. Except for the 1080p video mode, which only shoots at an unusable 20fps. 20? 720p does 30, though, so no worries there. There’s also no jog dial as was speculated, but that’s all right with me; I like my D-pad.
Here’s some video, thanks to Demystifying Digital:
Lots more details are also at DPReview, as expected. The whole thing will cost you $899 for the kit or $799 for body only. As always, I recommend the latter.
