Laptops and Diapers: Two essentials in one bag

Sure you’ve got a new baby on the way, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still wear horn-rimmed glasses and tote your Mac Pro to your neighborhood organic coffee shop. But those damn diapers! Why can’t the kid learn to use the toilet like a civilized adult?! If only there was a smart-looking messenger satchel that pulled double duty (or is it “doodie”?) as a laptop carrier and diaper bag in one?

Well ThinkGeek’s got one for $97.99. It’s called the Diaper Dude Messenger Bag and it allows you to “be a dad without looking like a mom” – that phrase is undoubtedly meant to make this more of an emotional purchase than anything. I passed this along to our own Matt Burns, who’s got a baby girl on the way (congrats Matt!) and his reply was, “Ha. I shoved my 13-inch iBook into our diaper bag last night.”

Still, perhaps the best thing this Diaper Dude bag has going for it is that it doesn’t look like a diaper bag at all. Once you peer inside, though, its purpose is clear:

“Perfect for any on-the-go Dad, this bag comes with all the space and features you could ask for. Its main compartment is nicely designed to hold diapers, a changing pad and anything else that may be necessary for your little one. The three front pockets provide ideal room for wipes, food, utensils and even aspirin (you’ll definitely need this). In addition to these features, this papa-pouch also comes with its own changing pad, cell phone holder and key ring. Heck, Mom could even use it!”

It’s also got stroller clips and an insulated bottle holder, so you and Junior should be all set for a cappuccino-filled day of coffee shop blogging.
