Sharp, Samsung, and NEC have shown off huge, 82-inch LCDs but Honeywell might beat those gigantic sets to the market with their own 300-pound beast. Actually, the American company isn’t the one constructing the LCD but rather simply licensed the nameplate to Soyo who will do the heavy lifting. The Altura does come packing however with a 120Hz screen, 3 HDMI inputs, and a dynamic contrast ratio of 120,000:1.

The cleverly named MT-HWGWT8218AM should drop later this year at a yet to be announced price. The TV probably falls under the ‘if you have to ask’ category though. Thankfully, by the end of the year, more Americans will be able to foot the bill thanks to their government road building jobs. And you thought Honeywell didn’t know what they were doing announcing an extremely expensive TV when the Dow Jones is hovering in the mid 7,000s.
