Android Market return policy, porn policy, and more

androidmarket1According to their announcement last week, we should be seeing Android pay apps coming up in the Market in the next day or so. But inquiring minds want to know: Will my 99¢ hentai game be accepted? Can I exploit the upgrade process? Can I sue Google when I buy the $1000 “I Am Richdroid” app “by accident”? All these answers and more!

Here are some salient points taken from the whole document:

  • You have a 24-hour period from time of purchase to return an app for a full refund. No word on whether you can exploit this again and again; I should think not.
  • Reinstalling pay apps is free and you can do it ∞ times. So if your SD bites the dust or you brick your phone, don’t worry.
  • Updates will be gotten directly from the developer. The Market is only for obtaining the app in the first place and has “no upgrade functionality.”
  • Porn apps are out of the question: nudity, sexual content, or any kind of frontend for a commercial porn site are all forbidden. And not forbidden as in delicious forbidden fruit.
  • Get ripped off? Google’s out of the loop. It’s between you and the developer or you and your bank. Google makes no attempt to stand behind any apps but its own.

Mostly I’m glad that you can buy something, uninstall it, and then get it back later if it adds something cool or one-ups the competition. I don’t plan on suing someone over a dollar and porn apps aren’t really my thing.
