canon-dslr-liveviewOne of the biggest gripes ’bout Canon’s Digital Rebel line is that the Live View isn’t practical thanks to its slow autofocus. It’s painful to use. A patent recently published however shows a system that would probably make it very useable with a fast autofocus and will hopefully find its way into the lineup.

The plan involves relocating some of the DSLR’s mirrors to allow the main mirror to record the image while you focus via the LCD. Ingenious! Of course there is more too including a semi-transparent mirror to assist the image sensor and the AF sensor. Honestly, who cares how it works as long as it does its job if it ever leaves patentland.
