Thanko, one of Crunchgear’s favorite crapgadget makers, seems to be able to produce useful electronics, too. At least their new Media Player [JP] looks a lot more sensible than the USB boob warmer, the USB gloves or the USB lunch box warmer.

The USB 2.0 device went on sale today and supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Macs. It basically allows you to play media files like videos or pictures on TVs. The 3.5-inch SATA HDD player is compatible to AVI （DivX）/VOB/MPG/MP3 and JPEG files.

An HDD must be bought separately but the main unit costs $75. The device should be listed in Thanko’s English online store soon (the interface is in Japanese and English)
