During this year’s Super Bowl, there are going to be some 3D commercials. Both Dreamworks and SoBe are going to air their ridiculously expensive ad spots right before the half-time extravaganza. But us fat, lazy Americans need special 3D glasses to view said commercials which makes ‘em lame in my book.

The necessary paper glasses should be available in most local grocery stores by now for free (1-800-646-2904 for free glasses). Still, 3D has been used over the last few decades as nothing more than marketing scheme. Most people have seen all the cheap parlor tricks that can be done with the technology and these two commercials should effectually confuse drunk football watchers more than anything. All of a sudden these 3D commercials, which don’t look like anything without the appropriate glasses, are going to appear, causing hearts to stop as intoxicated HDTV owners wonder what the hell happened to their huge TV on Super Bowl Sunday.

Who knows, maybe it’s better to grab a few free 3D glasses and keep an open mind. The upcoming Dreamworks flick does look kind of cool…
