Nintendo will partner with a prominent Japanese ad agency to create a video delivery service for the Wii. The move will ensure that Nintendo becomes the official entertainment brand for the race of man.

Nintendo and Dentsu will work together in Japan to bring original content to the Wii. You know, kid- and family-friendly content like cartoons and the like. They’re going the original content route, says Reuters, to differentiate themselves from other online distribution schemes.

As for release dates, expect the service in Japan early 2009, spreading throughout the rest of the world thereafter.

Or, in other words, Nintendo is being proactive in securing the absolute dominance of the Wii. Good for them.
