Thanko, the infamous gadget vendor from Japan, has released an upgrade of its portable multimedia player that has been available since July. I am not sure if anyone will be interested in buying the device but it should be listed in the company’s English online store soon (price in Japan: $85).

The player runs on Windows Vista and XP and features a 3-inch TFT screen with a 400×240 resolution (the older model was a little smaller at 2.8 inches). It also features a USB 2.0 port, 2GB of memory (with support of microSD), a mini speaker and an FM radio (usable in the US, Europe, Japan and China).

The player is compatible to audio in MP3/WMA/WAV, video in AVI(DivX)/FLV/RM/RMVB, YouTube videos and JPEGs. It can play video files for 4 hours or music for 10 hours with a single charge, which takes about 4 hours.
