True iPhone killer: the BlackBerry Terminator

“Put down your iPhone. You have 20 seconds to comply.” “I think you’d better do as he says, Mr. Jobs.” “You now have 15 seconds to comply.” Yeah I know that’s from Robocop, not Terminator, but the latest BlackBerry device, the Terminator, looks more like ED-209 than a hunter-killer. It’s got all the usual stuff — infra-red vision, dual… → Read More

Moto Rapture VU30 and Samsung Sway U650 get dated for VZW

Couple new just-over-budget phones comin’ down the line to Verizon Wireless. I can’t say I’m too excited about that Rapture, but the Sway looks pretty svelte. Cheaper, too. Neither one is very flashy, but it looks like the nicer sliding form factors from Samsung are starting to trickle down a little more. I remember drooling over some of the Korea-only handsets a year ago, which… → Read More

Can't afford a Canon 1D? Make one out of balsa wood

Now that’s the do-it-yourself spirit! Now if only I could afford some balsa wood. This little project looks like a lot of fun if you’re really good at carpentry. The ultra-portable Sony VAIO TT laptop gets torn apart

The Sony VAIO TT launched last week and we already get to see what’s inside the uber-portable laptop. Shock: Research shows UK iPhone users are happy with their device

Flickr’d New research shows that UK iPhone users are as happy as can be with their device, despite some of the earlier hiccups associated with the iPhone 3G’s launch. The survey, conducted by a research company Wavemetrix, suggests that it’s the apps, stupid, that make the iPhone so gosh darn attractive. Rumor: "D500" to replace Nikon D300 in early 2009

Not a lot of details on this one yet, but it makes some sense. Succeeding the D300 at around the $2000 level, the rumored D500 should sport 15.1 megapixels, weather sealing, video mode (24fps and manual controls, thank god), 1.5x FOV crop and of course live view. There’s no reason to believe this is true, really, except that it sounds about right. It’s a bit above my pay scale, but… → Read More

Got An iPhone? Join The TechCrunch Loopt Mobile Social Network And Never Be Lonely Again

Here at TechCrunch we’re big believers in mobile social networks. CrunchDeals: Pogo stylus half off (today only)

Back in December of 2007, I brought you news of the Pogo stylus for the iPhone and iPod Touch. You Are Gonna Vote, Right?

There is a rampantly liberal underlying message to this video (“if you care about sick people getting health care, you have to vote”), but the message is a good one. Rumors help drive down prices of Nikon DSLRs

Endless and incessant rumors regarding Nikon’s next move make the world go ’round; they also help lower the price of the company’s existing line of cameras. For example, you can now grab a D40X with an 18-135mm lens for around $819. Times being what they are and all, that’s still a fair amount of money, but it’s a lot cheaper than the $1,000 you once would have paid. → Read More
