Reminder: Nokia will announce many things later today

Quick reminder, gang. Nokia is expected to announce all sorts of stuff in the next few hours from London, including the details of its first touchscreen phone, something we noted last week. It’s also expected that Nokia will talk about its Comes With Music program. You know, the free-songs-with-cellphone-purchase that the music industry desperately wants to succeed (so it doesn’t have… → Read More

Videos: Nintendo DSi, new games for Wii, DS

I’ve ganked ‘em straight from the source just so you don’t have to guess which button it is that takes you to the good stuff. The new DS stuff looks fun, of course, but the Wii lineup is looking hot as hell. Punch-Out looks filthy, space exploration game looks awesome, whatever Tales game that is looks phantastic, and I’m sorry but I may have to buy a Wii solely on the… → Read More

New StumbleUpon In The Wild; When Do The Rest Of Us Get It?

Israeli blogger Tal Siach, one of the authors of the Walyou blog, seems to be one of the few people who can actually access the new, toolbar-free version of StumbleUpon. The new version was set to launch to everyone on Wednesday, but so far everyone I’ve spoken with is still on the old design, which requires the downloaded toolbar to function properly. Lucky for us, though, Tal is in, and wrote a… → Read More

European startups prepared for the worst

My colleagues over at TechCrunch.com have done some great number crunching and come up with a list of startups in CrunchBase that have raised at least $25 million over the past two years. The next two years are generally being referred to as another “nuclear winter” when startups will find it very hard to raise cash. They came up with a list of 160 startups, with Facebook topping the… → Read More

AOL's Unhappy TVSquad Bloggers Stay, But Also Launch Competing Site

AOL’s budget cuts across the board have been well reported, but the bloggers were the most vocal about it (as bloggers tend to be).

Many bloggers have reportedly left. The group behind TVSquad is doing something a little different, though. They haven’t left, but much of the team has launched a directly competing blog called CliqueClack. The writers continue to punch the time clock at AOL, but my… → Read More

AT&T to start training for the BlackBerry Bold on the 16th, launching on the 20th?

Will the madness ever end? BBNews is stating that inside sources have informed them that AT&T will begin training reps on the Bold beginning the 16th with a launch on the 20th. Apparently the delay was due to AT&T employees not signing up for training. Huh? Oh, and the Bold launching with AT&T is said to have a white keyboard, which is complete BS. The Cool Kids produced an original track, 2K Pennies, for the NBA 2K9 soundtrack and both Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks will be playable characters in Blacktop streetball mode. Last call! Canon pulling the HD commercial Reverie at midnight, tonight

And The Winner Of Our Dash GPS Contest Is . . .

Last week, I announced (in conjunction with Dash and Trulia) that we would give away a Dash GPS car navigation device to whoever could come up with the best new app for it. Readers came up with more than 300 suggestions, including the sketch at left (which I have no idea what it is supposed to be). But many of the ideas were pretty solid.

    Video Review: WowWee Tri-Bot

This $99.99 robot can talk to you, guard you, and even notify you when a set number of minutes has passed. It’s quite a bit of fun and has a charming personality, as you’ll see in our video, but we did have some issues with the IR remote control – the bugger just couldn’t tell what we wanted him to do. Compared to other robots we’ve seen this season, however, the… → Read More

Send A Photo Of Yourself To Space For The Suspiciously Low Price of $2

Most of us will never go to space – at least, not for a decade or so. But while we may not be able to go on a space walk or bounce around in zero-G, the prospect of being able to send something into the Great Beyond sounds like a decent consolation.

IntoSpace.org is hoping to make that happen for a mere $2.

Stephen Totilo of MTV Multiplayer fame had himself a fancy hands-on session with the PS3 keypad today and this is what he had to say about it. I pretend-typed some messages using the device, but I did not have time to input anything into the PS3. Like the 360 keypad, the PS3 add-on is designed to ease console user’s efforts to input messages and passwords. The add-on was light, adding no… → Read More

Lenovo to roll up Fujitsu/Siemens consumer PC business?

In one of these multi-part shuffles that characterize high-level business dealings, it looks as if Lenovo is going to be taking over the consumer PC part of the Fujitsu/Siemens joint venture. It seems Siemens has had enough and is selling its part to Fujitsu, and Fujitsu (not really loving the “end-user” market) will spin off that part of its PC business and sell it to whoever. → Read More
