Spotify, the Swedish startup with a Bittorrent-meets-Last.fm service streaming music service, has launched into open public beta. The startup is understood to have raised a massive €15.3m from VCs Northzone Venture Partners and Creandum. Spotify is a lightweight iTunes-like application streams songs via encrypted P2P technology. The service is ad-financed, hence the comparison with Last.fm. A number of us in the office are using it. Works well and interface is nice quick. I’m sure there will be a huge uptake on people using it.

I´m very very impressed with Spotify so far (def the best music service available today). Me and my friends are having a great time with it, and I hope the world will catch on soon. More users , more fun…

I installed Spotify about 2 hours ago and am still amazed that this is all free and legal. I can’t wait for some invites so I can show this to more people.

Honestly, I think I’m in love

spotify is not a patch on last.fm at the present stage. initially easy to use but not half as flexible as last. and currently rather lacking in tracks (or artist info) from more obscure acts!
and don’t get me started on the adds.
