Absolutely stunning analysis over at BGR, where Mr. Genius has the first photos of the Amazon Kindle 2.

Our ninja sent us a ton of shots, and we have to admit, they look pretty good.

Pretty good, indeed.

The Kindle 2 retains the same basic form factor as the original Kindle, while adding a little width and length, as the well-lit comparison photo up there shows. Note that the screen size is essentially unchanged.

Rounding out: there’s still EVDO downloads; there’s no more SD card slot; and the new joystick mechanism didn’t exactly impress, at least not immediately.
