This shot of the Lazertag Multiplayer Battle System, $80 from Amazon, looks so cool that I might need to get me some. The new guns have recoil and rumble as well as a shot blast system for simulating a shotgun. As John Brownlee points out, a lot of us 80s kids never got to play Lazertag because a police officer shot a kit who was playing it in the dark. I suspect that the story was urban legend, but it scarred a lot of souls.

The game is pretty simple, obviously – you shoot at other people’s sensors and they die when they run out of hits. There’s even a manual reload mode for realistic Halo-esque fumbling with your gun.
