If you’re one of the four people with a Best Buy nearby without any AT&T or Apple stores just as close, who also happens to want an iPhone 3G, you’re in luck! Best Buy has announced that they will begin carrying the iPhone 3G starting on September 7th. Jokes about futility aside, this actually ups iPhone retail locations by about 30% (up from around 2,200 to around 3,170.)

“We had a lot of work to do, obviously, to get in a position where Apple and AT&T would feel good about Best Buy Mobile carrying it, and that’s what we’ve done in the last 18 months,” said Best Buy’s Mobile head, Shawn Score, speaking of the various upgrades that have been made to their mobile retail setup.

Like most things sold there, don’t expect to save any pennies buying from the Blue Polo Brigade: they’ll be selling both models at the same price points available elsewhere.
