Sony first to ship Centrino 2

While Lenovo, Fujitsu, Toshiba and other PC manufacturers have been making a fuss about launching the first PCs to include Intel’s new Centrino 2 chipsets, Sony it seems actually shipped the first Centrino 2 products.

The Inquirer reported Sony’s claim to being first, with Sony saying that Intel’s embargo lifted at 8:00pm on Monday the 15th and that the company started shipping its new laptop line at 8:01. While Lenovo and UK-based PC maker Rock admitted that they announced their laptops immediately following the embargo, but units will not ship until August.
