Livestation goes social – allows viewers to add channels

Microsoft-backed Livestation, the online broadcast platform which offers live 24×7 news channels in high-quality, is adding features which will allow viewers to add their own channels from any TV, radio or webcam streams. They are also making it social. Livestation viewers will be able to browse through all of the channels other viewers have stored. You watch the broadcasts inside the Livestation player.

Matteo Berlucchi, Livestation’s CEO, says that it will mean they can start to tell which broadcasters viewers want added to the Livestation service.

Livestation channels currently include Al Jazeera, BBC World News, Bloomberg Television, EuroNews (English, French, Italian and Spanish), France 24, Russia Today and BBC World Service – a story broken by TechCrunch UK.

Competitors in the space are also ramping up. Zattoo is now in 8 countries, streaming live tv and has launched in German, French and Spanish versions of the player.
