AT&T Mobile TV Launched in 58 U.S. Markets

AT&T, which is about a year behind Verizon Wireless in the Mobile TV market, has announced today that subscribers in 58 areas around the U.S. can sign up for the company’s new mobile TV service. AT&T Mobile TV is now available in 58 markets, including the cities of Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, the service only works on FLO technology.

AT&T currently offers two FLO-enabled handsets. The LG VU sells for $400 and the Samsung Access sells for $300. Both phones require the customer to sign a two-year service contract with AT&T.

AT&T TV offers many of the same channels as Verizon Wireless, including mobile versions of CBS, Comedy Central, ESPN, FOX, MTV, NBC, and NBC News, among others. AT&T TV has two channels that Verizon doesn’t. These are PIX, which runs movies from Sony Pictures Television library, and CNN Mobile Live.

You can get unlimited access to AT&T Mobile TV for $15 a month. A package that adds unlimited mobile Web browsing and unlimited access to AT&T Wireless’s on-demand video clips costs $30 a month.
