If you are a camera fan with a penchant for exclusivity, here is your chance: Sony announced the release of a special version of its α350 digital SLR camera and DT 18-70mm F3.5-5.6 lens. Priced at $960, the kit is on sale in the Japanese Sony Style online store.

The new camera is technically identical to the α350 in black which is available in Japan for two months now. This means you get Sony’s Quick Autofocus Live View technology, a 14.2 megapixel APS-C CCD sensor and a 2.7-inch variable angle LCD screen.

What makes this kit so special?

- limited to just 200 pieces
- the new version comes in a color Sony calls “silky gold”
- buyers receive an exclusive body strap and other goodies
- all limited editions will get a serial number between 0 and 200

The α350 kit in black is sold in Japanese stores for about the same price so this deal is not too bad. But somehow the “silky gold” camera appears to be silver. Or is it just me?
