Dailymotion hires ex-Googler as first UK MD

Kate Burns, ex Google UK director (and Google’s first ever employee outside the US), has been hired as the first UK MD for Paris-based video upload site Dailymotion. The site is pushing for UK video and display ad inventory and attract advertisers via an agency, as well as extend its MotionMaker scheme for semi-pro producers. DailyMotion is after quality content, but then isn’t everyone?

Burns left Google in 2006 for a career break to spend more time with her young family. She was previously Altavista’s European sales director. Just prior to the DailyMotion move she was consulting with start-up companies on European online ad sales strategy and is a director of FruitFix – juice bar concept with premises in Brighton and Oxford St – London – and a holistic, five star retreat in Ibiza. Kate is a true UK Internet business trooper who even presented a TV show with tech guru Bob Cringley back in the day.
