Cellphone now most irreplaceable item for most most Americans

More Americans would have a hard time giving up their cellphone than giving up the Internet or TV. That’s what a Pew study found, at least. Six years ago, most people said that giving up a landline telephone would be the hardest technology to give up.

The results show that 51 percent of Americans would have the toughest time giving up their cellphone, compared to 48 percent for the Internet.

I look at it like this. I’m online, that is, using a full-fledged computer, something like 17 hours a day. If someone needs to reach me they can IM me. If I want to watch TV, I’ll download the show from the Internet. If I want to listen to music, I’ll download it from the Internet. Without the Internet, my life would have even less meaning.
