If you’re an AT&T broadband customer, that sound you hear is your bill inflating. For no good reason other than to “better reflect the value of our broadband service”, AT&T is hiking up your price by $5 a month.
This is in reaction to shareholders who blasted the company’s stock, after CEO Randall Stephenson said that there was weakness for AT&T in that market because of many customer’s choosing to pay their mortgages instead of their Internet bills. Jacking up prices in an already unstable market sounds like just the ticket, as it lets responsible payers, and those who are capable of paying, take up the slack for those who aren’t or can’t.
