They say early detection is the best form of prevention, so best, um, detect your hard drive for ILLEGAL MUSIC FILES because, you know, with every illicit MP3 you download, you endanger Western Civilization. Looks like UMass is being proactive in warning its students not to fall victim to an RIAA lawsuit.

This comes via Fake Steve, who makes a good point: if the “authorities” want to make your life a living hell, they can and they will. I can’t tell you how many stories I’ve heard of cops giving people a hard just time “just because” (I have a relative in law enforcement). Fair? Nope, but that’s how it is.
