Facebook just got punk’d. Do they still give that show? Amidst rumors that Microsoft is looking to purchase a stake in the Web site, New York’s attorney general launched an investigation into the site because sexual predators tried to pick up undercover investigators. Probably the most damning claim against Facebook is that, even after complaining to the site about being harassed by deviants, its admins did nothing. Not all of the time, mind you, but unless you’re batting 1.000 in dealing with sexual predator complaints, you’re asking for trouble.

Facebook did say that it’s working to resolve the matter and insists the site is safe, a “trusted environment” in public relations speak. I wonder how Microsoft will take the news.
