Storage company LaCie has unveiled its $189 500GB “Golden Disk”, designed by Ora-Ïto and available in late October.
Aside from the funky, wavy casing, the drive features a USB 2.0 connection, 7200 RPM spindle speed, sub-11 millisecond seek time, 8MB cache, and a “1-Click” backup option.
Similarly configured external drives are available in the low-to-mid $100 range on Amazon.com so you’d be paying a little extra to impress your friends, shallow or otherwise.
