Trio Of 'phones From Acoustic Research

Announced at CEDIA, Acoustic Research unveiled a trio of ‘phones for your listening pleasure. The AWD510 and 210 models deliver high definition sound over a 2.4Ghz advanced digital RF. There’s also a light weight in-ear noise isolating set of buds, ARE05, to tickle your fancy.

The 510 features Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound Capability (AC3, Dolby Pro Logic, DTS, AAC) that works up to 60-feet away. It also includes an integrated multi-chamber design with three high performance speakers for each ear cup, the headphones offer a wide frequency response range of 20Hz to 20,000Hz. Eight selectable channels enable performance optimization. The headphones provide up to eight hours per charge of listening from the rechargeable lithium polymer battery while the lightweight transmitter, 7.8 ounces, operates on AC power or three AAA batteries.

The second set of ‘phones, AWD210, feature 2.1 channel high definition performance with two speakers per ear cup with a frequency response range from 20Hz to 30,000Hz, and uncompressed audio, these headphones claim to deliver CD-quality music and clear voice up to 100 feet from the transmitter. The headphones weigh only 7.9 ounces and the transmitter weighs just 1.4 ounces. The transmitter runs on either AC power or three AA batteries and the headphones lithium polymer battery delivers up to 12 hours per charge of listening.

Now onto the in-ear isolating buds, the ARE05. These tiny little guys boast an industry-leading 16mm speaker driver, contoured buds to fit snug in your ears and passive noise reduction for plentiful, crisp and clear sound. At just under an ounce it wouldn’t be a bad investment. You also get a protective clamshell carrying case that contains a plastic cord manager for organizing and transporting.
