AdMob four iPhone: Mobile Ads You'll Actually Like

Paint: Behind the Scenes of the Most Important Software Application Ever

This is a little OT, but it is pretty cool. AdMob just launched a new type of mobile ad for the iPhone that takes advantage of CSS and other Ajax-y stuff to offer personalized ads. The video above shows how the ads work. They don’t take you to a separate page but instead they bring up a quick Google map or pop-up that gives you location- and time-specific messages.

The ads are iPhone-specific and will only show up on the iPhone. Fifteen companies, including Starbuck’s, have already signed up. Soon, you’ll be able to search for Big Macs while reading the New York Times. Ain’t technology grand?

Hey, by the way… pen scanner fans: Want a pen scanner? How about the DocuPen RC800, a unique pen scanner designed for students, lawyers, and weird guys who would normally rip stuff out of books in the library. Now all you have to do is slide the DocuPen over a piece of text and upload it to your PEE CEE. Fast, fancy, and uber slick. How can you get one?
