Batten down your hatches, routers, and cellphones because a security researcher is poised to demonstrate a method of breaking into and running malicious software on a range of consumer electronic devices. Even worse, if the attack is done to a network-connected router, every machine on the network is vulnerable. Never mind that the attack is said to be 100 percent successful and that its code can be modified to alter the firmware of the target router. Properly configured, this could mean that each and every file you download could lead to your system getting 0wn3d.

The one good piece of news is that the attack only works on devices with Arm or xScale processors, so our x86 boxen are slightly safer.
