Sony will roll out its fancy OLED TV this year, producing as many as 1,000 units per month. The first models will be 11 inches wide and 0.12 inches thick and will be within “a few times” the price of current flat panels. The future may be grand, but it sure seems like it’ll be expensive. If Sony does in fact release the OLED TV this year, it’ll become the first manufacturer to do so. Don’t want to play catch up again Sony?

The actual production of the OLED TVs will be handled by a joint venture between Sony and Toyota, kinda like how its LCDs are a joint production with Samsung. All I have to say is good luck, bro and that I eagerly await all of these expensive new TV formats.
