Butterfly Cellphone, As Designed By a 15-Year-Old

butterfly1.jpg

Again, cellphone concepts usually outclass actual cellphones all the time, but this one—the Butterfly—was designed by a 15-year-old Canadian kid. It’s part cellphone and part social networking device and has built-in Wi-Fi to surf the Web. All well and good to be sure, but the design itself is what’s so keen here. It opens at a 30-degree angle to reveal a 3.4-inch touch pad. The main display is even bigger, coming in at 3.5 inches.

You know what they say, a picture is worth 1,000 words, so gaze at this hardware for a while. When you’re done, keep reading to see the kid’s software.

OK, it’s pretty obvious that this kid has talent. I’d say that the phone’s UI beats the iPhone’s. Sure, this phone probably won’t ever come out, but methinks Apple (or Microsoft or whomever) should hire him ASAP. It’s better than anything I ever did when I was 15.
