• Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3: 10X Zoom, Small Package

    Friday, March 9th, 2007

Looking for a nice travel companion to go globe-trotting with? The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 looks to be a top choice. The 7.2-megapixel camera features a wide-angle (28mm) Leica lens capable of smooth optical zooming up to 10X.

While it’s not the slimmest camera, it is actually compact and can easily fit in a jacket pocket. And with an ISO up to 3200, you’ll be able to capture everything from bright, daytime pictures to dark indoor shots at dinner.

Panasonic’s zoom control is on a spring-loaded ring around the shutter button. It allows for more fluid control of zooming in and out than a rocker switch does, but if you’re used to a rocker switch, it also takes some getting used to. The mode dial is well placed for thumb access, unless of course you have short thumbs.

No viewfinder on the TZ3. Just this massive 3-inch screen.
