Zune Firmware Update 1.3 Approaches

Cesar over at Zune Insider announced last night that new Zune firmware will be released later this month. Update 1.3 will fix a number of issues, but not really add any functionality.

At any rate, this is what you can expect from the new firmware:

  • The skipping issue that many users have experienced on content purchased from the Zune Marketplace will be resolved.
  • Improved device and software reliability, when it comes to device detection, and improved syncing.
  • The FM tuner will no longer drain the battery when in sleep mode.

The date for the new release isn’t firmed up yet, but the word is that it’ll drop on March 20.

And yes, for those of you wondering, I still use a Zune; and no I am in no way compensated by Microsoft, mentally deranged, an Apple hater, etc—I just like my Zune.
