Apple's iPod Shuffle Becomes Best Selling iPod, Analysts Scratch Heads

just a few short weeks ago. Priced just right to be a gift, the Shuffle is proving to be far more popular than Apple probably anticipated.

So popular, in fact, that demand for the clip-on player is outstripping supply, and the Shuffle has become the best-selling Apple product, surpassing the iPod Nano last week for the crown.

According to Apple Insider, Amazon was plum out of stock of the Shuffle as of Friday, though it seems to have stocked up over the weekend. This is surprising, as the 2G Nano was the iPod that got iPod lovers drooling during Apple’s Showtime event two months ago. Perhaps this will give Apple incentive to address more readily the low-end marketplace, but we wouldn’t count on it.
