Watch Your Back iPod, Zune Is Coming For You

Don’t you dare declare that the iPod has won the MP3 player war yet. According to a new survey that interviewed 1725 teens and adults, 58% that existing iPod owners said that they’d be likely to purchase a Zune or another brand of MP3 player over Apple’s extremely popular MP3 player.

“Our conclusion,” says principal analyst Steve Wilson, “is that iPod users don’t display the same passionate loyalty to iPods that Macintosh users have historically shown for their Apple products. Only 15% of iPod owners said they were ‘not very likely’ or ‘not at all likely’ to choose Zune.”

Makes sense. Although Apple’s iPod is the music player of choice for most, the Mac computer isn’t. The survey shows that other companies are catching up to the status of the iPod, but aren’t there yet. The Zune has a long way to go before it makes a dent in iPod sales, but it might actually be able to do it.
